Jean Brazendale

Registered Dietitian, BSc (Med) (Hons) Dietetics, VitaGene Founder and CEO

Jean worked as a dietitian in private practice for over 25 years. Having been trained as a clinical dietitian, she began to experience frustration with patient outcomes, sparking her journey into personalised health and Nutrigenomics. She went on to become an accredited DNAlysis and 3X4 practitioner and completed the Manuka Science in Advanced Translational Nutrigenomics. 

She founded VitaGene in 2017, as a way to improve accessibility to professional-grade supplements. In 2020, she went on to launch VitaScript, South Africa's first virtual dispensary, extending quality supplements beyond her practice. Jean's mission centres on promoting health and longevity through personalised health.

Janet Welham

CEO SAIGE Business Consulting and Supplement Industry Expert

Janet has over 30 years of senior management experience within the Food & Beverage (FMCG), Health & Wellness, and Sport Industries.  She has extensive knowledge and a successful track record in the development of business strategy; strategic and operational turn-key projects; as well a solid understanding of the requirements for the running of successful businesses.

For many years she held the positions of EXCO member of the Health Products Association of South Africa (HPA) and Co-Chairperson of the Complementary and Traditional Medicines Stakeholders Committee (CMSC), which spearheaded discussions with Government on the Manufacturing (Quality, Safety and Efficacy) and the Marketing and Compliance of Health Products in RSA.  She has presented papers on these issues to the Department of Health, the Portfolio Committee of Heath and to the Pharmaceutical, Food and Cosmetic Industries.  Currently she holds the position of Technical Advisor to the HPA and represents the HPA on the ITG.

Kerri-Lee Goodall

Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm)

Kerri-Lee is a registered Pharmacist with the South African Pharmacy Council. She has over 17 years’ experience in various aspects of pharmacy which include, Retail, Hospital, Manufacturing, Warehousing/Distribution and Quality Assurance. 

She is proactive in staying updated with industry trends and best practices. She actively participates in professional development programs and conferences to enhance her skills and knowledge.

She is passionate about quality in the manufacturing environment and delivering safe, quality and efficacious products to consumers.

Dr Tracey Smillie

MTech Hom(DUT), PGCE

With over 10 years experience as a qualified homeopathic doctor, Tracey has worked in awide range of health sectors, including pharmaceuticals, natroceuticals, primary healthcare clinics, and private practice. After completing her Masters’ degree with a dissertation on the benefits of natural medicines' use in a primary healthcare setting, Tracey realised both the need and value of professional guidance when choosing personalised supplements. Since then, Tracey has made it her goal to develop tools and resources for people to get professional guidance when choosing supplements.

 Dr Danny Meyersfeld

PhD Molecular Biology, DNAlysis Founder and CEO

Dr Danny Meyersfeld completed his PhD in Molecular Biology in 2005 at University of Witwatersrand, South Africa. Following two years of post-doctoral research, and passionate about the concept of personalised medicine, Danny set up DNAlysis Biotechnology, a company dedicated to the widespread adoption of genomic insights into clinical practice. 

Their portfolio of genetic tests has been developed with a focus on scientific integrity and a commitment to ease the transition of complex genetics into medical practices.  Receiving widespread acclaim, the tests are now sold in 60 countries with 12 countries having local language reports. 

Through their partnership with Nordic Laboratories, they have been responsible for the education, training and support of thousands of clinicians around the world, helping to ensure their panels of genetic tests are used ethically and responsibly for the betterment of patient health outcomes.
