PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

As an essential mineral for optimal health, magnesium is involved in most major metabolic processes, playing a a crucial role in over 300 enzyme reactions operating throughout the day. Magnesium deficiency – caused by inadequate amounts of nutritional content in our diets, could lead to a wide range of health conditions.

With a greater need for increased minerals, Natroceutics Magnesium Complex is developed to deliver optimal levels of magnesium and overcome the limitations of conventional supplementation through a complex which includes liposomal magnesium, magnesium citrate and the full spectrum of complete trace minerals.

WARNINGS/CONTRAINDICATION

  • Contraindications NATROCEUTICS MAGNESIUM COMPLEX is contraindicated in:  Patients with hypersensitivity to any of the other components of the formulation (see Section 2 Qualitative and Quantitative Composition and Section 6.1 List of excipients)
  • Patients receiving levodopa/carbidopa (see Section 4.5 Interactions with other medicines and other forms of interaction).
  • Special warnings and precautions for use NATROCEUTICS MAGNESIUM COMPLEX should be used with caution in patients with renal disease. Magnesium excretion is reduced in patients with renal impairment and these patients have an increased risk of hypermagnesemia. Advise patients with renal disease to use NATROCEUTICS MAGNESIUM COMPLEX only under the supervision of their treating doctor.
  • Interactions with other medicines and other forms of interaction Interaction with Medicines LEVODOPA/CARBIDOPA: Magnesium supplements may produce an alkaline environment in the digestive tract which might lead to degradation and reduced bioavailability of levodopa/carbidopa. Patients taking levodopa/carbidopa should not take NATROCEUTICS MAGNESIUM COMPLEX (see Section 4.3 Contraindications).
  • BISPHOSPHONATES: Magnesium may reduce absorption of bisphosphonates and hence doses of NATROCEUTICS MAGNESIUM COMPLEX and bisphosphonates should be separated by at least 2 hours.
  • DIGOXIN: Magnesium salts may reduce absorption of digoxin resulting in reduced blood levels of digoxin and decreased therapeutic effects. Monitoring of digoxin blood levels may be required.
  • GABAPENTIN: Since magnesium may reduce absorption of gabapentin, advise patients to take gabapentin at least 2 hours before, or 4 to 6 hours after, NATROCEUTICS MAGNESIUM COMPLEX
  • POTASSIUM-SPARING DIURETICS: Potassium-sparing diuretics also have magnesium-sparing properties. Patients taking potassium-sparing diuretics should use NATROCEUTICS MAGNESIUM COMPLEX with caution. Monitoring of blood magnesium levels may be required.
  • QUINOLONE ANTIBIOTICS: Since magnesium may form insoluble complexes with quinolones and decrease their absorption, advise patients to take quinolone antibiotics at least 2 hours before, or 4 to 6 hours after, NATROCEUTICS MAGNESIUM COMPLEX.
  • SULFONYLUREAS: Magnesium may enhance the systemic absorption of sulfonylureas and thus increase their systemic and side effects. Diabetic patients receiving treatment with sulfonylureas should use NATROCEUTICS MAGNESIUM COMPLEX with caution. They should regularly check their blood glucose levels, but especially when supplementation is initiated or discontinued (see Section 4.4 Special warnings and precautions for use). They should stop supplementation with NATROCEUTICS MAGNESIUM COMPLEX should they experience hypoglycaemia and consult their treating doctor
  • TETRACYCLINE ANTIBIOTICS: Since magnesium may form insoluble complexes with tetracycline antibiotics and decrease their absorption, advise patients to take tetracycline antibiotics at least 1 hour before, or 2 hours after, NATROCEUTICS MAGNESIUM COMPLEX.
  • ALKALINE PHOSPHATASE: Magnesium salts may produce false increases in serum alkaline phosphatase test results due to the activation of enzymes used in laboratory procedures. Advise users to inform their healthcare provider that they are taking NATROCEUTICS MAGNESIUM COMPLEX when scheduled for blood tests.
  • CALCIUM: Magnesium salts may produce false increases in serum calcium test results in certain procedures using edetate disodium (EDTA). Advise users to inform their healthcare provider that they are taking NATROCEUTICS MAGNESIUM COMPLEX when scheduled for blood tests.
  • Pregnancy NATROCEUTICS MAGNESIUM COMPLEX at the recommended dosage of 1 to 2 tablets daily is safe to use during pregnancy. Advise users to exercise caution when combining magnesium-containing health supplements during pregnancy and to ensure that they do not exceed the tolerable upper intake level (UL) of 350 mg magnesium daily.
  • Lactation NATROCEUTICS MAGNESIUM COMPLEX at the recommended dosage of to 2 tablets daily is safe to use during breastfeeding. Advise users to exercise caution when combining magnesium-containing health supplements during breastfeeding and to ensure that they do not exceed the tolerable upper intake level (UL) of 350 mg magnesium daily.
  • Fertility The effect on fertility is unknown.
  • Effects on ability to drive and use machines No specific studies have been conducted. Given its side effect profile, NATROCEUTICS MAGNESIUM COMPLEX is unlikely to influence the ability to drive or operate machinery, but some people may experience visual disturbances (see Section 4.8 Undesirable effects). Since it is not always possible to predict how users may react to NATROCEUTICS MAGNESIUM COMPLEX, advise users to determine how NATROCEUTICS MAGNESIUM COMPLEX affects them before they engage in these activities.
  • Magnesium is generally well tolerated when taken orally. The most common side effects are gastrointestinal in nature and include diarrhoea, gastrointestinal irritation, nausea, and vomiting.
