Opti-CAL from AnaStellar is a comprehensive calcium and collagen combination supplement. Opti-CAL contains calcium, magnesium, vitamin D3 and vitamin K2 which all act to strengthen the inorganic bone matrix, as well as type 1 hydrolysed collagen, which enhances the flexibility of the organic bone matrix. Most conventional calcium tablets only focus on bone strength, but Opti-CAL focuses on both bone strength and flexibility. Strong bones can still fracture, shatter, and break, but strong and flexible bones can help to absorb impact. Since peak bone mass is achieved by the age of 25 to 30 years, it is essential that women (who are at a higher risk of osteoporosis) should start taking a calcium tablet from their early twenties. Early calcium supplementation helps to increase peak bone mass to protect your bones against osteoporosis and osteopenia. The most effective way to prevent osteoporosis is to supplement from an early age with a combination of calcium, magnesium, vitamin D3 and vitamin K2. Weight-bearing exercises are also important because they help to strengthen the muscles that support the bones. Calcium, magnesium, vitamin D3 and vitamin K2 all work synergistically to support the formation and maintenance of strong healthy bones. Opti-CAL contains an added innovative ingredient called type I hydrolysed collagen that allows Opti-CAL to not only assist with bone strength but also bone flexibility. The calcium, magnesium, vitamin D3 and vitamin K2 within Opti-CAL act as the “cement or mineral content” of the bone, whereas the type I hydrolysed collagen acts like the “soft scaffolding” within the bone, helping the bone to become less brittle, but stronger and more flexible.
